What's in each alert
New permits
Every new commercial permit opened that week: tenant upfits, renovations, new buildings, shells and additions. Each one shows the business or project, address, permit type, valuation, square footage when listed, and its current stage.
The people on the record
The general contractor, applicant, owner or tenant and the property owner, plus electrical, mechanical and plumbing subs when they're on file. Emails and phone numbers are included where the county lists them.
Status changes
Permits that moved from plan review to construction, and those that got a certificate of occupancy, meaning someone is about to move in. The weekly run rechecks open permits so you see the change when it happens.
Every line links to the permit's page on the county's Accela portal, so you can check the source yourself. National chains and public institutions are flagged, not hidden, so you can decide whether they're worth your time.
Who uses it
The same permits matter to different businesses at different stages. The alert can be cut to the stage and project types that fit your work.
Commercial cleaners
Certificates of occupancy mean a tenant is moving in and choosing janitorial. Projects under construction will need a post-construction clean.
Low-voltage, IT and security
Upfits in plan review and newly issued permits, while cabling, cameras and access control are still being bid.
Trade subcontractors
Larger jobs with a named GC, early enough to get on the bid list for flooring, paint, drywall and HVAC.
Furniture and interiors
Office upfits flagged at permit, months before move-in, with the tenant and GC named.
Insurance and equipment finance
New buildings and large upfits before occupancy, with the owner entity and contractor on the record.

About
CLT Permit Data is built and run by a Charlotte data architect. A small automated pipeline reads the county's public permit records each week, rechecks the status of open permits, and turns the changes into a short report. Every figure comes from the county record, and every row links back to it.
